Israeli Professor Chaim Cohen in his lab in Bar Ilan University. He is working with scientists to develop a drug to increase life expectancy by 30%.

Ancient writers in Greece wrote about a fountain containing magical water that restored youth when one drank of it. For thousands of years explorers have been searching for this mythical “Fountain of Youth”. While this fountain has remained elusive to discovery, Israeli scientists may have discovered the equivalent. This “Drug of Youth”, if effective, will change the course of human history in ways never seen before!

Israeli scientists at Bar Ilan University, led by Professor Chaim Cohen, conducted experiments on 250 mice by increasing their supply of Sirt6 (a protein that starts to decline with age). Sirt6 regulates aging, obesity, and insulin resistance. The male mice that were given the protein lived 30% longer, while the females lived 15% longer. If successfully applied to humans, the average life span would be expected to increase to up to 120 years!

In addition to the dramatic increase in life expectancy, the older mice who had the protein began to appear younger looking, were able to run faster, had less cholesterol, and were more resistant to cancer than ordinary mice.

Professor Cohen and his team are confident that this wonder drug could be successfully administered to humans with equal results and may be only 2-3 years away from being ready!
